Hobbies

When it came to hobbies, the 1970's had a huge variety, and some are even popular today, I mean, who could forget pet rocks? Like I said before in crafts, there are soo many more than the examples I am giving on this website.
Some hobbies that I think that are messy, or toys, are Pet rocks, Mexican Jumping Beans, Slime, Mad Libs, Acupuncture, and Magic 8 Balls. Pet rocks are simply rocks that people have as pets, Mexican jumping beans are these little "beans" that can "jump". Slime is a type of goo that is fun to play with, (like silly putty) Acupuncture is needles put into your skin to make you feel good, and Magic 8 Balls are balls with a cube inside having answers, so when you shake it, it answers any yes or no question, but it is not be accurate.

Some hobbies that I think are fads, include baseball cards, lighting matches at rock concerts, lava lamps, beer can collecting, singing silly songs, and star wars action figures, and none of these really need an explanation.

Crafts

In the 1970's, there were many crafts. Some were neat, some messy, there was a big range of them. There are many more then I will say below, but these are just a few examples.
The more messy things included silly string, silly putty, play-doh, spin art, and sand art. Silly string was a special type of foam in a spray container that would spray out in the shape of string, and stick to you. Silly putty was a substance made to stretch, bounce, and stick. Sand art is layers of different colored sand in a bottle, spin art is paint splattered on a spinning canvas, and almost everyone knows what play-doh is.

The not-as-messy crafts were weaving looms, string art, and creepy crawlers. Weaving looms were things that you could use to weave, string art is string sorted in a particular way to look like a picture or design, and creepy crawlers are stuff put into the oven, and then are in the shape of a bug when taken out.
