Gerald Ford, President 
Gerald Ford was born on July 14, 1913. His original name was Leslie Lynch King Jr. It was changed later on from his stepfather. He was born in Omaha Nebraska. He attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Yale Law school in 1941. He did not like Law so he enlisted in the army. He fought in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7. Ford won his first political position in 1949, becoming a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He investigated the assassination of John F Kennedy. When Spiro Agnew resigned as vice president Ford took his place. The next August Nixon resigned because of his actions and Ford became the 38th president of the United States on August 9, 1974. Ford’s campaign got off to a bad start when he issued a full pardon from Nixon a month after taking office. He struggled with the economical issues. He worked in other countries a lot. He did not win for re-election in 1976. He was known for steering our country back in line after bad times. After his presidency ended, Ford wrote his memoir, A Time to Heal, which was published in 1979. He had two strokes in 2000, but he quickly recovered. Since 2005 he had been hospitalized for tests. Gerald Ford passed away on December 26, 2006 at the age of 93.
    Richard Nixon, President He was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. His mother was a Quaker. Nixon Had four Brothers. Two of his brothers died before he was 21. After his ranch failed in 1922 the Nixon's moved to Whittier, California. His dad opened a grocery store when they got there. He originally went to high school at Fullerton High in Fullerton, California but then transferred to Whittier High school. He was in the class of 1930. Because of financial reasons he was forced to decline scholarships to Harvard and Yale so he enrolled at Whittier college. He was a standout in his drama club and he frequently participated in debates. He was student body president, a player on the football and basketball team, and a track runner. After he graduated from Whittier he went to Duke. On June 21, 1940 he married Thelma Ryan. After the honeymoon in Mexico, They moved to long beach and then back to Whittier. He was part of the House of Representatives then the Senate before becoming the Vice President in 1953. He was Vice President to Dwight Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961. In 1960 he lost the president election to JFK narrowly. In 1968 Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey to win the election after JFK was assassinated. He was involved in the Vietnam war.  In 1972 he one for re - election in one of the biggest landslides ever. In June 17, 1972 he was involved in the Watergate scandal. He said that he was not involved which was a lie. On August 8th 1974 he was forced to resign.
      On April 18, 1994 he had a severe stroke. It was thought that it was caused by a blood clot. He died On Friday, April 22, 1994 he was 81.
