Many great convenience foods were new in the 1970‘s. The microwave came out in 1967, so many people were starting to make meals in their microwave oven. The following were introduced in the 1970’s.



“Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn, Hamburger Helper, Morton's salt substitute, Starbucks founded, McCormick's "Roast in a Bag Kit, Celestial Seasnings Herbal Teas, Snapple, Quaker Oates granola, Egg McMuffins, Cup O'Noodles, Stove Top Stuffing, Promise (margarine), Brim (caffeine-free instant coffee), Yoplait yogurt, Miller Lite, Mrs. Field's Cookies, Mr. Coffee, Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies, Country Time lemonade, Apple & Eve juice, Pop Rocks, Burger King launches its "Have it Your Way", Starburst Fruit Chews, Oodles of Noodles, Puritan Oil, Perrier Water introduced to U.S. markets, Twix Cookie Bars, Denny's Grand Slam Breakfast, recyclable soda bottles, plastic grocery bags, McCormick's Lite Gravy, Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream, Reese's Pieces,  Arby's Beef'n'Cheddar Sandwich.”1



As you can see, many foods were geared towards convenience. The “Brady Bunch” moms of the seventies needed to quickly prepare meals and tend to their families needs.
